Kettle River Headwaters BLM Dispersed Area
Scattered primitive sites along the Kettle River’s headwaters, mostly sandy clearings in mixed aspen and pine with direct river access for fishing and water collection. No facilities whatsoever — pack it in, pack it out — and sites accommodate maybe 6-8 rigs total spread along a couple miles of river corridor. Popular with anglers during walleye runs but otherwise quiet.
Access via County Road 23 north of Kettle River town, then follow the rough dirt tracks toward the water. Roads can get boggy after heavy rain, and some spots require high clearance to reach the best camping. No signage, so bring a GPS and expect to explore a bit to find your spot.
