Jasper National Park Wapiti Campground
Wapiti sits along the Athabasca River just south of Jasper townsite, offering 362 sites across multiple loops with varying levels of service from tenting to full hookups. The campground features heated washrooms, hot showers, and a playground, making it popular with families during peak summer months. Sites 1-78 are closest to the river with better privacy, while the upper loops can feel crowded but offer mountain views.
Open May through October with reservations strongly recommended July-August. The campground serves as an excellent base for Icefields Parkway exploration, Maligne Lake runs, or town resupply. Firewood is available on-site and campfires are permitted in designated rings. Expect elk wandering through — they own this place, not you.
