Interstate State Park
Interstate State Park straddles the St. Croix River between Minnesota and Wisconsin, offering 37 drive-in campsites in a mature hardwood forest. The park’s claim to fame is the Dalles of the St. Croix — dramatic basalt cliffs carved by glacial meltwater, creating massive potholes some 60 feet deep. Sites are relatively close together but well-shaded, with modern restrooms and showers available.
The park fills quickly on summer weekends, so reservations are strongly recommended May through September. Winter camping is available but water is shut off. The visitor center provides good intel on local geology and river history for those heading deeper into the St. Croix National Scenic Riverway.
