Fada Town Campement — Ennedi Est Overland Basecamp
Fada is the administrative capital of the Ennedi Region and the last real resupply and rest point before the piste pushes east toward Bisset Canyon and Wour. The campement here — run out of the town’s modest infrastructure — offers a sandy courtyard, basic shade shelters, and access to local water. It’s not glamorous: expect dust, heat, and the occasional goat. But it’s real, it’s known, and it’s where guides, gendarmes, and expedition teams all converge before heading into the massif. Fuel availability is erratic — carry reserves.
Access is on piste from N’Djamena via Abéché and Am Dafock, or from Khartoum via Tine for crews coming out of Sudan. The road into Fada is mostly piste — high-clearance 4WD mandatory. Wet season (July–September) can close approaches entirely. Register with the gendarmerie on arrival; it’s required and they’re generally helpful with local route intel.
Last basecamp before the Ennedi goes wild.
