Ethabuka Reserve Dispersed Camping
This 400,000-acre private conservation reserve offers dispersed camping along the seasonal Eyre Creek, about 80km southeast of Birdsville. Popular spots include the old Telegraph Station ruins and several clearings under scattered coolibah trees. No facilities beyond basic pit toilets at the main entrance — bring everything you need. The creek holds water most of the year, but treat it before drinking.
Access via the QAA Line from the Birdsville Track or from Cordillo Downs Station. Sandy tracks require high-clearance 2WD minimum, 4WD recommended after rain. Entry fee applies — pay at the honor box or online. Gets crowded during Birdsville Race Week and school holidays.
