Constable Point Research Station Water Well

Water Source

A working artesian well at the former Danish weather station provides clean, cold water year-round for expeditions crossing the barren Northeast Greenland plateau. The concrete wellhead sits beside the crumbling station buildings, with a manual pump that still functions despite decades of Arctic weather. Water flows freely when ice hasn’t locked the mechanism.

The station sits 8 kilometers inland from Constable Point airstrip on a rough gravel track. Well requires basic tools to operate the pump handle — bring a pipe wrench. Water quality is excellent but consider filtration as a precaution given the remote location and potential wildlife contamination.
