Cascada La Llorona Trailhead
Unmarked trailhead for the spectacular La Llorona waterfall in dense Pacific coastal rainforest. Park alongside the muddy road where local guides congregate — no formal parking area. The 3km trail involves multiple river crossings, steep muddy sections, and requires a local guide (mandatory, 40,000 COP). Waterfall drops 200 meters into a swimming pool surrounded by virgin cloud forest.
Road deteriorates badly during rainy season (March-November). High-clearance 4WD essential year-round. Guides speak limited English but know the route well. Bring cash for guide fees and waterproof gear for river crossings. No cell service past the trailhead.
