Canning Stock Route — Well 33 Dispersed Camp
Well 33 is one of the restored heritage wells that define the Canning Stock Route experience and a well-documented overnight spot for expeditions travelling the full route. The surrounding country opens into classic Great Sandy Desert — dune crossings, spinifex plains, and mulga woodland fringing the track. Camp directly beside the well structure or pull off into the flat sand between dune crests. Zero infrastructure. You’re self-sufficient or you’re in trouble.
This stretch of the CSR sits within the Great Sandy Desert and access requires a fully kitted desert-rated 4WD with high-lift jack, dual spares, and a satellite comms device — no exceptions. Wells along this section have been restored by the CRCP but water quality and availability must be independently verified before you leave. File a detailed trip plan with family or an agency. Wildfire risk is real in spring. This is not a beginner trail.
Great Sandy Desert — no margin for error.
