Camping Confluencia Aconcagua
This established campground serves as the main staging area for Aconcagua expeditions and day hikers heading to the mountain’s base. Twenty marked sites with fire rings spread across a flat valley floor, plus clean pit toilets and a reliable stream for water. The views of Aconcagua’s south face are spectacular, especially at sunrise. Rangers patrol regularly and collect fees.
Access via Ruta Provincial 7 from Mendoza, then 8km on a decent gravel road through Horcones Valley. The road is passable for any vehicle in good weather but gets rough after storms. Reservations recommended during climbing season (December-February). Elevation is 3,300m so expect cold nights even in summer.
