Burr Trail Switchbacks Dispersed Area
Just below the famous Burr Trail switchbacks, several dispersed sites perch on sandstone ledges with commanding views across the Waterpocket Fold toward Capitol Reef. Sites accommodate 6-8 rigs maximum, each with natural wind barriers formed by red rock formations. Fire rings present but bring your own wood. Spring wildflowers can be spectacular here in April-May.
High-clearance recommended for the final approach, though standard vehicles can make it with care. Extremely exposed to wind – secure everything. No water source for 25+ miles in either direction. Winter access can be sketchy with snow and ice on the switchbacks above.
