Burdah Rock Bridge Area — Wadi Rum Backcountry Bivouac
Burdah Rock Bridge is a natural sandstone arch high on the face of Jebel Burdah, deep in the eastern side of Wadi Rum. The sandy wadi floors below it make a quiet, windbreak-friendly place to park a rig for the night. There are no facilities and no water. Pack out everything you bring, and carry all the water and fuel you need from Rum Village or Aqaba. Shade is limited to the cliff walls, and winter nights drop cold enough that you’ll want a real sleeping bag. The stars out here are some of the best in the Middle East.
Wadi Rum is a protected area run by the Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority. Expect to buy an entry ticket and register at the Wadi Rum Visitor Center before heading in. Rules on self-driving, overnight camping outside the Bedouin camps, and guide requirements change, so confirm them at the visitor center before you commit. Soft sand and hidden wadi junctions catch plenty of rigs, so drop tire pressure and follow established tracks. Best from October through April; summer heat is brutal. Have a dirty day.
