Alu-Cab started in Cape Town and still builds its gear there. Its fitment centre in Ottery is where many overlanders get canopies, rooftop tents, awnings and accessories fitted. It’s a working shop on an industrial street, not a boutique. If you’re staging a rig for Namibia, Botswana or the long haul up to East Africa, this is a well-known place to get a serious canopy or roof setup done before you leave.

Plan ahead. Fitment is usually by appointment, and custom canopies can have lead times, so contact them well before your departure date. The head office and manufacturing site are at 9 Blomvlei Road in Nerissa Estate, which is separate from the Ottery fitment centre, so confirm which address you need. Phone is 021 703 3028.
