Ouachita National Forest — Holson Valley Road Dispersed Camp

Holson Valley Road (Forest Road 6022 corridor) runs through the lower Ouachita country north of Talihina, threading between timbered ridges and seasonal creek drainages. Dispersed sites here are informal pull-offs on national forest land — flat, shaded by mixed pine and hardwood, and largely unknown outside of local hunters and trail riders. No facilities, no signage, no fee. Cell service is basically zero once you’re down in the valley bottom. Fire rings are scratch-built; check Ouachita NF fire restrictions before you light anything.

Access is passable for high-clearance 2WD in dry conditions, but the red clay turns into a slip-and-slide after rain — don’t push it in a two-wheel-drive loaded rig after a storm. Busy in deer and turkey season (October–January); otherwise you’ll likely have it to yourself. Fourteen-day stay limit applies across the forest.
