Stillwater Campground — Arapaho National Recreation Area

Stillwater is a USFS-developed campground on the north shore of Lake Granby, sitting at about 8,370 feet in the Arapaho National Recreation Area. With 129 sites spread across multiple loops, it’s one of the larger operations in the area — boat ramps, flush toilets, drinking water, showers in season, and actual trash service. It fills hard on summer weekends when the lake crowd shows up, but shoulder-season overlanders — late May or late September — will find it manageable and genuinely useful as a staging camp for the Bowen Gulch and Grand Ditch corridors a few miles north.

Access is paved off US-34 south of Grand Lake. Reservations strongly recommended June through Labor Day — recreation.gov handles bookings. Sites accommodate rigs up to about 35 feet. Cell signal is spotty but better down near the lake. The campground typically opens in late May and closes after Columbus Day weekend, snow dependent.
