Moraine Park Campground — Rocky Mountain National Park
Moraine Park sits right in the heart of Rocky Mountain National Park, tucked into a wide glacial meadow along the Big Thompson River at around 8,160 feet. It’s a legitimate developed campground with 244 sites spread across multiple loops — electric hookup loops for those who want them, tent loops for those who don’t. Elk graze the meadow every morning and evening without fail. Camp store, flush toilets, and dump station on-site. It gets busy — peak summer nights fill up months in advance on Recreation.gov.
Year-round operation in some loops (Loop A stays open all winter). Paved access from Bear Lake Road makes this achievable for any rig. Reservation almost mandatory June through September. Trail Pass entrance fee required for RMNP. Fire restrictions apply — check current conditions before you light anything.
