Magadan — Gorodyanka Campground (Base Camp Magadan)

Gorodyanka sits on the edge of Magadan near the Gorodyanka River corridor, used by overlanders and touring motorcyclists as a staging point before or after tackling the Road of Bones. The site has basic facilities by Russian standards — fire rings, rudimentary pit toilets, and flat ground capable of handling multiple expedition vehicles. The vibe is rough and functional, not manicured. Expect other hard-travel types here, not car campers with glamping gear.

Access is straightforward from central Magadan, making it the logical first or last night on a Kolyma expedition. Season runs May through September before the ground freezes solid. No cell signal beyond what Magadan’s MTS or Beeline networks push to the fringe. Verify current status locally — Russian campground infrastructure is informal and can change without notice.
