Torra Bay Seasonal Campsite — Skeleton Coast Park

Torra Bay sits on the Skeleton Coast roughly 50 km south of Terrace Bay, inside the park’s southern zone. It’s a seasonal camp — open December and January only — run by Namibia Wildlife Resorts as a base for surf anglers who’ve made the pilgrimage to chase kabeljou and steenbras in the cold Benguela current. The camp has basic ablution facilities, some shade structures, and not much else. The beach is raw, littered with whale bones and rusted shipwreck steel. Wind hammers it daily. It’s bleak and beautiful in the way only the Skeleton Coast can manage.

Access requires a valid Skeleton Coast Park permit and is strictly through NWR Windhoek booking — there’s no showing up unannounced. The track from Ugab Gate south gate is manageable gravel; north of Torra Bay toward Terrace Bay is 4WD sand. If you’re running the Springbokwasser-to-Mowe Bay corridor, Torra Bay is a logical south anchor camp. Outside December–January the facilities are locked and the camp is off-limits.
