Terrace Bay Restcamp — Skeleton Coast Park

Terrace Bay is a government-run Namibia Wildlife Resorts restcamp sitting right on the cold Benguela surf of the Skeleton Coast, roughly midway between the Ugab and Springbokwasser gates. Originally built as a diamond mining camp, it now serves as the main resupply and overnight point inside the park for permitted overlanders and anglers. Bungalows are the primary accommodation but there are camping pitches with basic ablutions. The surf here is brutal and cold — nobody swims — but the angling for kabeljou is legendary. Jackals and brown hyenas cruise the camp perimeter at night.

You must hold a valid Skeleton Coast Park permit to enter — no permit, no access, full stop. Fuel has historically been available here but verify before departure; supply is inconsistent. The road north from Springbokwasser Gate is sand track requiring 4WD and deflated tyres. No walk-in entry — all visitors pre-booked through NWR Windhoek. Best May through October.
