Conor Pass — Dingle Peninsula Summit Road
Conor Pass tops out at roughly 1,500 feet on the Dingle Peninsula in County Kerry and is the highest mountain pass in the Republic of Ireland. The road is a genuine single-track with minimal passing places — north-facing in the morning means ice lingers well into spring. From the small summit layby you get a full panoramic drop down to Dingle town and the harbour. Waterfall streams cross the road in multiple places after rain. The descent toward Dingle is steep with tight hairpins — long-wheelbase rigs and large trailers should approach from the south (Dingle side) to avoid the worst of it.
Closed or impassable in heavy snow and frequently icy November through March. Coaches and large vehicles are officially discouraged. Fuel in Dingle before heading north — nothing on the pass. Views on a clear day are genuinely hard to beat anywhere in the British Isles.
