Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest — Klipchuck Campground
Klipchuck sits about 4 miles west of Mazama off Highway 20, tucked into a mature forest of ponderosa and larch along Early Winters Creek. It’s an established USFS campground with around 46 sites, vault toilets, and a creek you can hear from your bag. Sites are well spaced and shaded — not a sardine can. It fills up on summer weekends, especially for folks running the North Cascades corridor, so mid-week arrivals are your friend. No hookups, no showers, standard NW fire restrictions apply July through September.
Access is paved nearly to the entrance — any rig can make it in. It’s one of the last developed camps before you climb into the Methow highlands toward Hart’s Pass. Water from the creek is available but filter it. Season typically runs late May through October depending on snowpack. First-come, first-served with a 14-day limit.
Best staging camp near Hart's Pass.
