McFarland State Historic Park

Established Campground

This compact state park sits in the heart of Florence around a restored 1884 courthouse that now houses a museum. The campground offers 25 sites with hookups, picnic tables, and restrooms — clean facilities and a solid overnight stop when running the southern AZBDR segments. Sites are mostly level gravel with decent spacing, though summer heat can be brutal.

Florence is a solid resupply town with grocery stores and fuel within walking distance. The park makes a good base camp for exploring nearby desert routes or a comfortable night before tackling rougher backcountry sections. Reservations recommended during snowbird season (November-March).
