Tulabi Falls Road — Nopiming Provincial Park East Corridor to Tulabi Lake

Shield rock and boreal silence, east of Lac du Bonnet.

Moderate

Nopiming means ‘entrance to the wilderness’ in Ojibwe, and the east corridor road to Tulabi Lake earns that name every kilometre. Launching from Provincial Road 314 north of Lac du Bonnet, the route threads through exposed Precambrian granite shelves, black spruce bogs, and beaver-flooded lowlands before breaking out at Tulabi Lake and its namesake falls. The road surface shifts constantly — packed gravel gives way to embedded rock slabs, soft shoulders, and mud holes that deepen after any serious rain. The Tulabi River crossing midroute is the decision point: in high water it’ll test your approach angle and confidence in equal measure.

This is legitimate high-clearance territory, though a properly equipped stock 4WD with all-terrain tires and good ground clearance will handle it in dry conditions. Mud season (May–June) demands a locker and recovery gear at minimum. Dispersed camping is available along the lakeshore — no services, no cell signal, no nonsense. Fuel up in Lac du Bonnet before you head north. Best season is mid-July through September. The Manitoba Parks website has current road condition advisories worth checking before you leave pavement.
