McArthur Game Sanctuary — Kluane Lake Territorial Campground
This Yukon government territorial campground sits right on the Alaska Highway at Kluane Lake — one of the largest lakes in Canada and a legitimate visual gut-punch when you roll up on it. It’s the primary developed overnight stop for overlanders working the Kluane Lake North Shore Road, staging for the Donjek route into Kluane National Park, or running the Dezadeash Lake to Bates Lake backcountry. Pit toilets, fire rings, picnic tables, and direct lake access. The lake is cold and exposed — wind can hammer this camp hard when a front rolls through from the St. Elias Mountains.
Alaska Highway access is paved and direct. Nearest fuel and supplies are at Destruction Bay or Burwash Landing, both close. This camp fills in peak summer — arrive early or mid-week. Watch for bears working the lakeshore. Water from the lake — treat it. Seasonal operation only.
