Yukon River — Minto Resorts and Pelly River Confluence Viewpoint
Standing at the confluence of the Pelly and Yukon rivers near Fort Selkirk country, you get a visceral sense of scale — two massive braided glacial rivers merging in a wide valley flanked by spruce-covered bluffs. This was a critical waypoint for First Nations travellers, gold rush stampeders, and early traders. The view across the flats is enormous, and the light at golden hour hits the river bends in a way that stops you cold. No infrastructure out here — just water, sky, and silence.
Access is off the North Klondike Highway via the Minto Landing road, rough dirt that softens badly in wet conditions. This area ties directly to the Dalton Range Road and Pelly Crossing trail corridors. High-clearance recommended. Spring breakup and fall freeze-up make timing critical — mid-June through September is your window.
Two great rivers meet in raw Yukon country.
