Slate Creek BLM Campground

Small gravel pad campground at mile 147 offering the last established camping before Atigun Pass and the Brooks Range proper.

Six gravel sites tucked into a creek valley just off the Dalton Highway, each with picnic table and fire ring. The creek runs year-round and provides decent water after filtering, though it can get silty during heavy rains. Sites are first-come basis and fill quickly during summer truck traffic lulls. No hookups, but vault toilets and bear boxes keep things civilized.

The campground sits at about 1,300 feet elevation in a transition zone between boreal forest and tundra. Road noise from passing trucks is constant but manageable. Best accessed in dry conditions — the access road turns into a mud pit during extended rain.
