Nimpo Lake to One Eye Lake FSR
Chilcotin lake country at its wildest
The road splits off Highway 20 near Nimpo Lake, immediately dropping you into the heart of Chilcotin lake country where grizzlies outnumber people ten to one. This 45-kilometer route winds through dense lodgepole pine forests and alpine meadows, connecting a chain of pristine backcountry lakes including Charlotte Lake and the remote One Eye Lake. The trail crosses Titetown Creek twice — both fords can be knee-deep during spring runoff, and the second crossing has claimed more than one overconfident pickup truck.
This is solid intermediate territory requiring high-clearance 4WD and recovery gear. The creek crossings demand respect, especially May through July when snowmelt turns gentle streams into proper rivers. Best tackled August through September when water levels drop and the fishing hits peak. No permits required, but fuel up in Tatla Lake — the nearest gas is 200 kilometers away. Endless dispersed camping opportunities along every lake, and you’ll have most of them entirely to yourself.
