BLM Sully Creek State Recreation Area Overflow Dispersed Sites
When Sully Creek State Recreation Area hits capacity, overlanders spill into the informal dispersed sites along the creek bottom and adjacent BLM land. These spots lack amenities but offer solitude among cottonwoods with decent creek access for water and washing. Expect company during deer season and summer holidays when the main campground overflows. Fire restrictions typically apply May through September.
Access via the same road as the state park — just continue past the fee station onto the rough two-track that follows the creek. Sites become increasingly primitive as you head downstream. No services, so pack out trash and bring your own water for drinking.
