Chequamegon National Forest Perch Lake Road Dispersed Sites
This cluster of unmarked dispersed sites sits along Forest Road 2182 (Perch Lake Road) deep in the Chequamegon, about 20 miles south of Ashland. Half a dozen pull-offs accommodate anything from a tent to a 30-foot rig, with most sites tucked back in the trees for privacy. Fire rings are present but not maintained — bring your own grate. The area sees light use except during deer season in November.
Access requires 8 miles of gravel forest road that can get washboarded but is passable for any vehicle in dry conditions. No signage marks the area, and GPS can be spotty under the canopy. Small Perch Lake offers decent fishing but no boat launch. Sites fill water from Ashland or Iron River before heading in.
