Chippewa National Forest Leech Lake Dispersed Sites
Multiple primitive sites tucked along the southeastern shore of Leech Lake, accessed via unmarked two-tracks through mixed pine and hardwood forest. Sites range from small single-rig clearings to larger areas that can handle 3-4 vehicles, most with lake views and basic fire rings left by previous campers. Popular with anglers chasing walleye and muskie, but sees light use outside fishing seasons.
Access roads are sandy dirt that can get soft after rain — high-clearance recommended but not mandatory. Sites fill up during Minnesota fishing opener in May, otherwise you’ll have your pick. No services, pack out all trash. Generators typically allowed during daytime hours.
