Chippewa National Forest Sucker Lake Dispersed Area
Sucker Lake sits tucked into the Chippewa’s northern backcountry, offering a handful of primitive dispersed sites along the shoreline and back from the water. The lake itself is small but clean, with a rough boat launch that sees occasional fishing traffic. Sites are basic dirt clearings in mixed pine and hardwood, no facilities beyond fire rings left by previous campers. Most spots can handle rigs up to about 25 feet, though maneuvering room is tight in the tighter shoreline sites.
Access is via Forest Road 2240, which turns to rough dirt after the first mile and stays that way for another 4 miles to the lake. High-clearance recommended but not mandatory outside of spring thaw. The area sees light use even in summer, making it a solid option when the developed campgrounds are packed.
