Ouachita National Forest Wolf Pen Gap Dispersed Area

Dispersed Camping

A handful of dispersed sites scatter along the ridgeline near Wolf Pen Gap, accessible via Forest Service roads branching off the Ouachita Trail corridor. Sites sit in mixed hardwood forest with decent spacing between camps and seasonal views through the canopy. Most spots accommodate one or two rigs with existing fire rings and makeshift furniture left by hunters and hikers. Water flows in Wolf Pen Creek during wet seasons but can dry up completely in summer drought.

Forest Road 132 provides the main access but can get rutty after heavy rains. Popular with hunters during fall season and gets occasional horse traffic from Ouachita Trail riders. No facilities whatsoever — pack out everything.
