BLM Soggy Lake Dispersed Area

Dispersed Camping

Soggy Lake sits in a broad valley east of Highway 395, offering expansive dispersed camping around what’s usually a dry lakebed surrounded by sagebrush flats. When water is present (typically spring snowmelt), the setting becomes surprisingly scenic with the White Mountains rising to the east and the Sierra Nevada as a backdrop to the west. Sites spread across gentle rolling terrain with excellent views in all directions and room for large groups or events.

Access via decent gravel roads from Benton Crossing Road, suitable for most vehicles when dry. The area becomes a muddy mess when wet — avoid during and immediately after rain or snowmelt. No facilities or shade, and winds can be fierce. Popular with stargazers due to excellent dark skies and minimal light pollution. Water levels and road conditions vary dramatically by season.
