Pine Barrens Chatsworth Lake Road Dispersed Sites
A network of sandy roads and clearings around the abandoned Chatsworth Lake area provides excellent dispersed camping in classic Pine Barrens terrain. Sites range from small pull-offs for single rigs to larger clearings near old bog dikes that can accommodate several vehicles. The sandy soil drains well and the pitch pine canopy provides decent shade. Existing fire rings are common, though bring your own grate.
Access via Chatsworth-New Lisbon Road to various unnamed sand roads heading toward the lake bed. Most routes are passable with 2WD, but soft sand can be tricky after rain. The area gets moderate traffic from local hunters and ATV riders, especially on weekends. Water sources are limited to seasonal streams.
