Belleplain State Forest CCC Road Dispersed Area
Several unmarked dispersed sites along the old CCC Road network built in the 1930s, offering primitive camping in classic Pine Barrens habitat. Sites are small sandy clearings that can handle 2-3 vehicles, surrounded by dense cedar swamps and cranberry bogs. The area stays cooler than open sites due to heavy tree cover, with occasional glimpses of the bog landscapes that define this corner of the Pine Barrens.
Access via a network of sand roads that can be tricky to navigate without GPS. Some sections are seasonally flooded, making spring access challenging. The CCC roads themselves are fascinating remnants of Depression-era conservation work.
