This sprawling BLM dispersed camping area stretches across several square miles of Sonoran desert west of Quartzsite. Scaddan Wash offers level sandy sites scattered among creosote and palo verde, with the Dome Rock Mountains rising to the north. No amenities beyond what you bring — pack out everything. The area gets crowded during Quartzsite’s winter RV season (January-March) but empties out completely in summer heat.
Access via dirt roads off Scaddan Wash Road requires high-clearance but not 4WD in dry conditions. Sites can accommodate any size rig if you pick carefully. Popular with long-term winter campers who create temporary communities. Cell service is decent on Verizon. Stay limit is 14 days, then move 25 miles.
