Delaware River Port Authority Maintenance Circuit

Bridge infrastructure meets urban exploration

Difficult

This route follows DRPA maintenance roads and inspection tracks that service the massive bridge infrastructure spanning the Delaware River. Starting near the Betsy Ross Bridge approach, the circuit includes access roads to the Ben Franklin Bridge anchorages and the seldom-seen Camden waterfront utility corridors. The highlight is the approach to Pier 70’s former shipbuilding dry docks and the bridge inspection platforms.

Difficult access requiring proper authorization and coordination with port security. Standard 4WD vehicles handle the concrete service roads and steel plate crossings, but the real challenge is legitimate access. Industrial traffic and restricted security zones make this a specialized expedition. Best pursued through organized urban exploration groups with proper permissions. The payoff is unmatched views of Philadelphia’s engineering heritage and active port operations.
