This straightforward mountain town fuel stop sits right on Highway 149 in Lake City, serving as the primary resupply point for overlanders tackling the Alpine Loop from the southern approach. Full-service station with diesel and unleaded, plus a decent selection of groceries, ice, propane, and basic camping supplies. Gets busy during summer weekends when the jeep tours roll through, but usually manageable early morning or evening.

Open year-round, though hours may be limited in winter. Lake City shuts down pretty hard after Labor Day, so call ahead if you’re running late season. This is your last guaranteed fuel until you loop back around — don’t gamble on making it to Silverton on fumes.
