This small store and cafe sits at the junction where the Alpine Loop branches toward Cinnamon and Engineer Passes, making it the last resupply point before you commit to the high country. They’ve got fuel, basic groceries, ice, and surprisingly good burgers and breakfast burritos. The old mining camp atmosphere adds character, and the locals know the current trail conditions.
It’s about 20 miles southwest of Lake City on a decent gravel road. Hours can be unpredictable, especially in shoulder season, so don’t count on it being open. But when it is, it’s a welcome sight for overlanders stocking up before or celebrating after running the loop. Cash preferred, and cell service is hit-or-miss.
