Manantial Termal Puritama
These terraced thermal pools flow through a narrow canyon carved into volcanic rock, creating a series of natural bathing spots at temperatures ranging from 33°C to 39°C. The mineral-rich waters emerge from underground sources heated by geothermal activity, with the entire complex stretching about 3.5km through the Puritama Gorge. Wooden walkways connect the developed pools, but you can explore upstream for more secluded soaking spots.
Access requires a high-clearance vehicle for the final 3km of rough track from the main road. Entry fee required and hours are limited—typically 8am to 6pm. Gets crowded with day tours from San Pedro, so early morning or late afternoon visits offer more solitude. No camping at the springs themselves, but dispersed sites exist along the access road.
