Keystone Ancient Forest Trailhead
The Keystone Ancient Forest preserves one of Oklahoma’s last remnants of old-growth forest, with massive post oaks and eastern red cedars some 800+ years old. The main trailhead sits off Sand Springs Road with decent gravel parking for a dozen rigs, vault toilets, and interpretive kiosks. Two main boardwalk loops wind through the ancient grove — the shorter half-mile loop stays flat while the mile-long trail climbs ridges for canopy views.
Access via Sand Springs Road is gravel but manageable for any vehicle. The preserve closes at sunset and can fill up on weekends, especially during fall color season. No camping allowed but makes a solid day hike when running trails in the Keystone Lake area.
