Huntsville State Park Campground
Huntsville State Park sits on the shores of Lake Raven with 150+ developed sites spread across multiple loops. You’ll find concrete picnic tables, fire rings, and restrooms with hot showers. The lake offers decent bass fishing and a small boat ramp. Sites 01-40 are closest to the water but book fast during spring and fall. Weekends draw heavy traffic from Houston, so midweek visits are quieter.
The park entrance is right off I-45 — no washboard approach roads here. Sites accommodate everything from tent campers to big rigs. Reservations are basically required March through October. Winter offers the best chance for walk-up availability and cooler temperatures for campfire weather.
