Havasu Falls Sacred Swimming Hole

Blue-green water cascades 100 feet over red travertine cliffs into swimming pools that maintain 70°F year-round. The sacred falls sit on Havasupai tribal land 8 miles from the nearest trailhead at Hualapai Hilltop. Swimming is allowed in the pools below the falls, but the area sees heavy use during permitted seasons. All visitors must secure advance reservations through the Havasupai Tribe — walk-ins are not permitted.

Access requires an 8-mile hike each way from Hualapai Hilltop, which itself is 60 miles from the nearest paved road. Most visitors camp at the designated tribal campground near the falls rather than attempting day hikes. Tribal permits cost $100+ per person and typically sell out months in advance. Helicopter shuttles are available for gear transport during peak season.
