Glacier Point Yosemite Valley Overlook
The most famous viewpoint in Yosemite offers an unobstructed panorama of Half Dome, El Capitan, and Yosemite Falls from a granite ledge 7,214 feet above sea level. The overlook sits at the end of Glacier Point Road with a large parking area, stone railings, and interpretive displays. Summer crowds are intense, especially at sunrise and sunset, but the view never gets old.
Glacier Point Road typically opens May through November, depending on snow conditions. The final mile climbs steadily on paved switchbacks. Arrive before 9 AM or after 4 PM to avoid the worst crowds and tour buses.
