Parque Nacional Natural Farallones de Cali Camping El Topacio
Perched in the cloud forests of the Farallones de Cali, this high-altitude campground sits at 2,800 meters where the mountain mist rolls through ancient oak and wax palm stands. Six designated camping spots with basic pit toilets and a stream water source nearby. The temperature drops to near freezing at night even in dry season, so pack accordingly. Quetzals and cock-of-the-rock frequent the area at dawn.
Access via a rough 18-kilometer dirt track from the ranger station that requires high-clearance 4WD and dry conditions — impassable during heavy rains April through June. No fires permitted due to páramo ecosystem protection. Reserve through the national parks system as capacity is strictly limited.
