Elizabeth Furnace Recreation Area Campground
This 32-site campground sits beside the ruins of a Civil War-era iron furnace along Passage Creek in the Massanutten Mountains. Sites are well-spaced through mature hardwoods with picnic tables, fire rings, and vault toilets. The creek runs crystal clear and cold — perfect for cooling off after dusty trail rides. Sites 15-20 offer the best creek access.
Popular with both tent campers and RVs under 35 feet. Weekends fill up fast during fall color season. The campground serves as base camp for exploring the extensive Massanutten trail system. No hookups but drinking water available. Reserve ahead for peak season or risk driving away empty-handed.
