Crucero Summit Mojave Road High Point

Point of Interest

Crucero Summit represents the highest point on the Mojave Road at 4,200 feet elevation, where the route crests between desert mountain ranges. From this windswept saddle, you get commanding views east toward the Colorado River valley and west across the vast Mojave Desert toward the Granite Mountains. The summit is marked by a small stone monument and scattered remnants from the road’s military and civilian use.

The climb to Crucero can be rough in places with loose rock and steep grades, requiring 4WD and good ground clearance. Wind can be fierce at the summit, especially in spring. It’s a good spot for photos and to appreciate the scale of the desert crossing that early travelers faced.
