Parque Nacional Lanín Camping Huechulafquen
Huechulafquen sits right on the shore of Lago Huechulafquen with the snow-capped Volcán Lanín dominating the skyline to the north. The campground has about 80 sites scattered through lenga forest, most with lake views and fire pits. Sites are spacious enough for roof-top tents and small trailers, with clean pit toilets and potable water from mountain springs. The setting is stunning — crystalline lake water backed by jagged peaks and dense southern beech forest.
Access requires 12 miles on gravel RP-61 from Junín de los Andes, passable for any vehicle but dusty in summer. The campground operates November through April with a small fee collected by rangers. Sites fill up during Argentine holidays in January, but you can usually find a spot other times. No hookups or showers, just basic infrastructure in an incredible natural setting.
