Ilulissat Icefjord Visitor Center
This modern visitor center sits on the edge of Disko Bay with commanding views of the Ilulissat Icefjord, where massive icebergs calve from the Sermeq Kujalleq glacier. The center houses exhibits on glaciology and Inuit culture, plus a viewing platform that’s your best bet for photographing the ice river without hiking. The building itself is an architectural landmark, built into the landscape with minimal impact.
Open year-round but hours vary drastically by season. The gravel access road from town is straightforward for any vehicle. Park in the designated lot and follow the wooden boardwalk to avoid damaging the fragile tundra vegetation.
