Scoresby Sound Abandoned Weather Station
Concrete bunker and radio tower remains from a 1950s weather monitoring station, perched on a bluff overlooking the massive Scoresby Sound fjord complex. The main building shell provides wind protection for camping, though the roof has partial collapse. Incredible 360-degree views of the fjord system and distant mountains make this a memorable overnight stop despite the austere conditions.
Access via rough 4WD track from the coastal research route — about 12 kilometers of loose rock and boggy sections that require careful navigation. The track is unmarked but follows obvious ridgelines. Weather can change rapidly here, and the exposure is extreme during storms.
