Nuuk Fjord Base Camp
This formal campground sits on a gravel terrace overlooking Nuuk Fjord, with 8 designated vehicle sites and basic pit toilets. Each site has a fire ring and windbreak barriers — essential given the constant coastal breeze. The camp serves as a staging point for overlanders running the southern coastal routes or accessing the interior via the Narsarsuaq connection.
Access is via a maintained gravel road 15km south of Nuuk proper. The site typically opens in late May when snow clears and closes in early October. No reservations required but spaces fill during the brief summer tourist season. Water available from a hand pump near the toilet block.
